Stages of History
1700
Lucien Rochat’s great-great-grandfather found work in the workshop of an automaton maker, where he dedicated himself to designing the mechanisms that powered clocks. Upon the owner’s death, the workshop passed into his hands.
1800
The Rochat family keeps the workshop running, specializing in the construction of increasingly smaller and more complex mechanisms.
1900
The Rochats moved to the Vallée de Joux, between Lausanne and Neuchâtel, the most famous region in Switzerland for watchmaking. The family thus began to experiment with building handcrafted watch movements.
1925
Emil, Lucien’s grandfather, officially opens the Rochat workshop. Compliqué is born, the first mechanical chronograph to bear his name.
1942
A fire devastates the Rochat workshop. Under the leadership of Ernest, Emil’s son, the Geneva studio is opened, later moved to Yverdon-les-Bains. The Rochat workshop becomes a watch factory.
1972
Lucien succeeds his father. The Lucien Rochat brand is born.
1981
The factory becomes a company and the headquarters are moved to Grandson, in French-speaking Switzerland. All Lucien Rochat watches are produced here.
1982-1995
The brand consolidates its position as one of the most important names in the Swiss watchmaking tradition. The first luxury chronographs are born, small masterpieces of craftsmanship made of the most precious materials, with moon phase systems and a central calendar. The company invests in marketing and communications to reach a wider audience. The brand can count on excellent ambassadors such as Maldini, Gassman, Mastroianni, Lavazza, and Tognazzi, figures who perfectly embody Lucien Rochat’s motto: “Personality is not inherited through one’s name, but through one’s choices.”
2006-now
The brand is acquired by the Morellato Group. The relaunch strategy reinforces the brand’s original values: refinement, timelessness, and a revival of tradition. The new collection has a sober, clean, and simple style: decidedly contemporary characteristics. Lucien Rochat is today an icon of elegance and timeless style.

Oignon Grande Complication
Vintage automatic chronograph with an original movement made in the 1940s. The movement is composed of 283 parts, all finished and assembled by hand. The case is made of 18-karat gold and the strap is made of natural crocodile leather.
Royal Air Force 42
Watch with automatic mechanical movement featuring three subdials, a complete calendar, and moon phases. Sapphire crystal, water resistant to 100 meters, featuring a genuine white or black mother-of-pearl dial, a double crocodile strap, and a gold buckle. The great success it achieved among opinion leaders has led Lucien Rochat to also create this model with an 18-karat gold case.
Noblesse
An automatic model almost on par with a jewel in class and refinement. Equipped with a mechanical movement of the highest quality and precision, it is also available in the “Perpetuelle” version with a calendar programmed until 2070. The case is made of 18-karat gold, and the strap is made of natural crocodile leather. The women’s version is available with an 18-karat gold bracelet.
Soleil
This model perhaps best demonstrates Lucien Rochat’s love for his creations. The case and caseback are hand-engraved, the dial is genuine mother-of-pearl, and the indexes are gold. The mechanical movement is the world’s thinnest. Sapphire crystal, a gold buckle, and a Babila’s leather strap complete this exclusive piece.
Clermont
Inspired by the Art Deco period, it is crafted from 18-karat rose gold. Available in men’s and women’s versions, it features a haute-gamme automatic movement measuring just 3.2 mm high, a calendar, sapphire crystal, and a water-resistant case.
Rattrapant
Manual chronograph with two superimposed seconds hands: the first is the classic chronograph hand, while the second records a split time and can be stopped by pressing the button. This piece, produced in a limited series of 30 unique pieces, features an 18-karat gold case and a crocodile leather strap.
